Observation start time: 08:30:00
Observation end time: 14:00:00
Total observation time: 5.5 hours

Official Counter: Craig Evans

Observers:

Visitors:
Paul Pratt visited the tower today for about 30 minutes.

Weather:
The morning began sunny but soon clouded over for the remainder of the day.
Gusty southwest winds continued for the second day in a row, though they
were not as strong as yesterday, ranging between 14 - 18 mph. It was cooler
today with an average temperature of 5 C.

Raptor Observations:
It was another slow day for raptor migration with the gusty southwest
winds. Some Turkey Vultures were observed crossing far to the north, in
addition to some Red-tailed Hawks. An adult male and an adult female
Northern Harrier flew past at different times. An American Kestrel, a
Merlin and a Peregrine Falcon all flew up the beach today at different
points. 3 resident Bald Eagles, 2 adults and an immature bird were observed
in the area, in addition to an Osprey.

Non-raptor Observations:
Ceder Waxwings and American Goldfinches continue to pass over the tower in
fairly good numbers. Only a few Rusty Blackbirds and Pine Siskin were
observed today. There was not too much activity in general around the
tower, as the birds likely sought less exposed areas that were more
sheltered from the wind.

American Crows - 35

Predictions:
Tomorrow should be cool, mostly sunny and winds are predicted from the
northwest. Tomorrow looks promising for raptor migration, hopefully this
potential will be realized!
