Visitors:
John Barnes made a visit to the tower this morning. Thank you for your
company, conversation and keen eyes this season.

Weather:
Snow and low visibility began the day with light south southeast winds and
a temperature of -2.5 C. Overcast skies and flurries persisted for much of
the day, though the sun did break through the clouds around noon and again
just before 1:00 pm. However, the winds moved southeast and snow and low
visibility moved back in for the final hour. This was followed by rain at
the end of the count as temperatures warmed to 0 C.

Raptor Observations:
The slow trend of migrating raptors this week continued at the tower today.
A Red-tailed Hawk and an adult Red-shouldered Hawk were observed flying
past.

Non-raptor Observations:
The marsh is almost completely frozen over again and therefore many species
were either absent or their numbers were reduced. Large flocks of
Canvasback were observed again flying out over the lake.

Predictions:
Tomorrow is the final day of the 2018 raptor season at the Holiday Beach
Hawk Watch. The winds are forecast to shift north sometime tonight and are
expected to remain northerly all day tomorrow. The skies should be clearing
until late afternoon and temperatures should reach a high of 5 C. Hopefully
this promising forecast will lead to a great day of migration at the tower
on the last day of the season.
