Highlights: The mild weather continued this week and although migrants are arriving roughly on schedule, they are not yet, on the whole, widespread or numerous. Here are the highlights of the last week: CANVASBACK - The only birds reported this week were the 4 seen at Waupoos Marina, Prince Edward, on 6th. RUDDY DUCK - not a common species in the area, 2 were seen in Kingston's Inner harbour on 11th. SANDHILL CRANE - birds were seen at Crosby, Morton, Murvale and Kingston this week. GREATER YELLOWLEGS - slow to arrive, 2 were seen at Napanee Plains IBA on 12th. LITTLE GULL - a lone bird was seen at the unusual location of Kingston's Inner Harbour on 8th. ICELAND GULL - an immature bird was still present at Millhaven on 6th. CASPIAN TERN - the first bird to be seen this year was noted at Belle Park, Kingston, on 10th. GREAT EGRET - the first of the year was seen at Bath on 9th, with another in Kingston's Inner Harbour on 10th. SNOWY OWL - singles were seen on Wolfe Island on 6th and Amherst Island on 7th. PEREGRINE FALCON - Three birds were seen in downtown Kingston on 11th, with a single seen 3 times at a slightly more westerly location over the week. BARN SWALLOW - the first of the season was seen near Millhaven on 8th. CAROLINA WREN - single birds were seen at locations just north of Kingston throughout the week, with others at Cartwright's Point and Ravensview, Kingston, both on 8th. FOX SPARROW - the first birds of the season were seen at Big Sandy Bay, Wolfe Island, on 6th. SWAMP SPARROW - as with the above species, the first of the year were seen at Big Sandy Bay, Wolfe Island, on 6th. RUSTY BLACKBIRD - first birds were seen on 6th at Verona and Napanee.
