Following up on an Ontario Birds Facebook post by Chip Ogglesby of a Plegadis Ibis seen yesterday east of Holiday Beach Conservation Area in a flooded field, I was able to relocate and photograph bird this morning. Unfortunately the bird flew off in the direction of Holiday Beach and I was unable to track it down before I had to get to work. Others are currently searching for the bird now.
The location of the wet field is just east of Holiday Beach Conservation Area on County Rd 50 in Amherstburg. The best way to see the specific location may be to check out the eBird checklist below showing the gated laneway (yellow gate) that leads toward the lake and along the field. If the bird returns, you may be able to see the bird from the road with a scope or you may need to walk down the laneway. This laneway is ERCA property. eBird checklist - https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S55331021 Good Birding!
