There seems to have been a Magnificent Frigatebird hanging around for the most part of today in the Lighthouse Cove area. First reported on the Ontario Bird Alert discord sever by Brett Fried at 12:30pm. ("Got a message from a friend reporting a frigatebird sp. over Lighthouse Cove on Lake St. Clair a couple of hours ago. Could still be around somewhere... poor cellphone pic attached.")
After no word of it for the rest of the day, Donny Moore posts at 7pm to the disord server saying that he had just seen it. Here's what Donny said "Was reported to me as suspected frigate by a friend who was fishing. Came out to check didn't find it but some other guys came in from being on the Thames and said it was further up stream sitting on rocks. I found a spot to get to the rocks. Bird looks a bit worse for wear. When it saw me it gingerly took off and flew to nearby tree, it landed on a branch awkwardly. Credit goes to Shawn McLaughlin for letting us know. Always nice when the fishing/hunting community comes up with the information." Still unsure of where exactly the bird is located in Lighthouse Cove, but hopefully it can be located tomorrow! Below is a photo of the frigatebird taken by Donny Moore.
