Prof. ir. Jaap van Till is the leader of the HAN University’s
research and competence group Telecommunications &
Networks that developed the ”"Tillevision” ICT network
infrastructure Modeling Method based on an extension of
the Open System Interconnection Model.
His group is active in research, architecture, design and
implementation of leading edge Fiber-to-the-X Networks
and of high capacity bandwidth networks for mobile and
nomadic uses. Focus is on ICT infrastructure for P2P
cooperation.
He is also network architect and teaches at a number of
universities, laboratories, telecom policy gov’t ministries and
business schools. Jaap is one of the judges of the yearly
World Communication Awards (WCA).
Introduction
Recuperating from the recession and internet services bubble in 2000 the
Telecommunication & Internet& Media-distribution industries are growing very
fast again. Specially successful are mobile communication and new ICT broadband
networking possibilities. Supply and demand are however not very well matched
and some ventures are not as successful as expected. Furthermore old and new
functions and systems are changing places due to a fast change in IC power and
costs. Transitions in this rapidly changing field we be discussed and analysed
with models as conceptual navigation tools.

Understanding the ‘ICT infrastructure model’ at conceptual, logical and
physical level, serving requirements of business processes, organisation, IT,
networks and physical infrastructure.
Using the model to incorporate segments of different suppliers and network
management departments with different backgrounds and techno-cultures. Looking
over the fences and on different timescales.
Examples of application of the Tillevision Model to the architecture of

networks and Ftt-Business & Ftt-Home projects.
