I should make this one a FAQ, because it is a mistake made often. It only deletes snapshots that do not belong to one of the categories. At a certain point a snapshot older that 2 days belongs to the week before, so will be kept as the last snapshot from last week. Most often that occurs on snapshots from Sunday, but depends off course on when you use your computer.
Why you have no snapshots from the other months I do not get.... It should keep those. Could you reply what happend on next Tuesday? Could you file your log then? Then we can see what is happening... 2009/11/21 oernii <[email protected]> > If my daily snapshot is from 3 days ago is deleted because it is not > from today or yesterday then I will NEVER have a monthly backup, right? > > -- > BiT only creates 3 days of backups > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/485879 > You received this bug notification because you are a member of Back In > Time Team, which is subscribed to Back In Time. > > Status in Back In Time: New > > Bug description: > BiT is set up to backup some folders every day and smart-delete some older. > But it deletes all of them, only the last 3 days and the first one remain. > This is my destination folder: > > $ ls -l /BACKUP/backintime/backintime/ > total 16 > dr-xr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2009-08-21 00:04 20090821-000013/ > dr-xr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2009-11-18 00:07 20091118-000004/ > dr-xr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2009-11-19 00:08 20091119-000003/ > dr-xr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2009-11-20 00:07 20091120-000004/ > > BiT is set to delete: > - older that 10 years > - if less than 1GB of space ( which did NOT occur ) > - smart delete > - do not delete named snapshots. > > It happens on 2 mandriva linuxes, Version: 0.9.20.
