Should we be targeting an (eventually) metacircular implementation? What are the pros and cons?
My belief is that we ultimately want the BitC compiler in a safe language, which is why (God help me) I've been pushing this particular rope uphill in C#. Not that I hold any abiding love for C#, but it's no worse than anything else, and the feature set should translate to BitC if we ever want it to. The only real question is whether BitC will have objects or not, which is a topic for another subject thread.
