My company is seeking a switching engineer.  Some of the requirements are as
follows:

Accountabilities:

 

. Participate in the design, implementation and maintenance of our corporate
soft switches

. Perform local and toll interconnections with other carriers

. Design routing translations for optimal cost savings

. Develop standards and procedures associated with maintaining a soft switch
network

. Provide "hands-on" engineering support during installation, training and
implementation of new network services

. Serve as a contact point for the various business units, as well as
outside carriers and customers

. Manage small projects and services in a fast-paced competitive field

. Test new hardware configurations/designs

. Various other related duties as required

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

 

. A combination of education and experience will be considered

. Strong background in next generation PBX telephone systems using VoIP
technology

. Broad understanding of telephony systems including TDM and VoIP solution

. Knowledge of telecom carrier services and technologies including LNP,
TCAP, SS7, PRI, and ISDN

. Knowledge with all or some of the following: TCP/IP, SIP, SS7/IP (SIGTRAN
M3UA), H.248, H.323, MGCP, and TGCP

. Familiar with voice and data protocol analyzers

. Experience in network switches and routers (Cisco, Nortel) is an asset

. Previous experience with LINUX/UNIX System Administration is an asset

. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple
responsibilities

. Proven team player able to work in a complex and fast-paced business
environment

. A positive, "can-do" attitude and customer focused approach that will
enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy and
sincerity
