- If Asterisk implements SILK as a codec, and releases their chan_skype driver, then you could talk HD voice to skype users - Would make more accurate speech recognition possible - Stream some mp3's (but I already have a player on my computer, and my ipod... so why my phone?)
But just like HDTV, it doesn't make the programming any better ;-) What would be really useful is a larger and more programmable screen with some embedded linux distro like Android underneath. Honestly, if I can get an Intel Atom laptop for $300, why can't I have a phone that's a big touch display with a handset and speaker phone.
