- If Asterisk implements SILK as a codec, and releases their
chan_skype driver, then you could talk HD voice to skype users
- Would make more accurate speech recognition possible
- Stream some mp3's (but I already have a player on my computer, and
my ipod... so why my phone?)

But just like HDTV, it doesn't make the programming any better ;-)

What would be really useful is a larger and more programmable screen
with some embedded linux distro like Android underneath. Honestly, if
I can get an Intel Atom laptop for $300, why can't I have a phone
that's a big touch display with a handset and speaker phone.
