Background: My company is a Canadian OpenSRS reseller (one of the first), and we want to help other resellers. We have too high a percentage of underutilized bandwidth, are a hop off of UUnet, and want to sell some traffic as cheaply as we can to lower OUR price... Hopefully blowing any competing prices out of the water in the process. This represents an opportunity to OpenSRS resellers who perhaps can't afford dedicated lines, expensive co-lo, or choose not to purchase their own bandwidth. We are looking for contracts for high-capacity web hosting, email, FTP, etc. We can also set up dedicated UNIX servers to spec, but do not have or want the facility to handle mass colocation. We can work with several secure technologies to set up remote backups (*maybe* even trade equal size backups for free), redundant mirror of your web site, etc. Our main focus at the moment is for single contracts in the 10-100GB/month range, so you should already need at least 128K of committed bandwidth. Depending on the shape and delivery method of the traffic, the prices will differ... but, again, my intent is to sell this stuff at crazily low prices (even stupidly low from a marketing perspective :-), maybe even "free trials", so we can justify better connectivity in North America, and lower our own unit cost of traffic (in other words, we can basically pool buying power)... and to help out other OpenSRS resellers in the process. I guess, since this is a public forum, I feel I should tell people NOT to attempt to DoS our network to test our connectivity. (Especially not everybody on this list at once! :-) Anyone in the world with a serious interest who would like to open up a dialogue on this, please email me off-list with some of your basic requirements/ideas, specific questions (try and stump me ;-), and, if you like, maybe some indication of your current/expected price for the service you're proposing. I'm open to other suggestions you might have, too, and I'll work pretty hard to beat competing services. I'll try to respond to everybody pretty quickly, as we want to ramp up our utilization over the next 8 weeks. If it wasn't clear already, I *am* in this to make money, but NOT from OpenSRS resellers.
