MESSAGE CONTENT:
1) Debate vs. College Republicans (TONIGHT, 8pm - Murphey 116)
2) VP Debate Watch Party (Thurs, 8:30pm - Bingham 103)
3) Voter Registration Deadline Oct.10th!
4) Campaign Events this Week
_____________________________________________________
Heels,
Tonight we face-off against the College Republicans in our first debate this
semester! The event starts at 8pm in Murphey 116, but please come at 7:30 to
help fill the room with Young Dems. We don't expect enough seating for
everyone, so please come early and ensure that we'll be debating in front of a
friendly audience.
(1) "Debate '08: Young Dems vs. College Republicans" (Mon, Sept. 29 @ 8pm -
Murphey 116)
(2) Did you enjoy the Presidential debate last Friday? Are you ready to see
Sarah Palin go toe-to-toe with Sen. Biden? Join us this Thursday at 8:30pm for
the one and only Vice-Presidential debate this year in Bingham 103.
(3) With less than two weeks before the state-wide voter registration deadline,
we need all hands on deck to make sure every student at Carolina is properly
registered. The Obama campaign developed a super-user friendly website,
www.voteforchange.com, to help anyone determine their registration status,
request an absentee ballot, or (re-)register to vote.
Here are three simple steps you can take right now to help us out:
- Make sure that you are properly registered at your current address (go to
www.voteforchange.com)
- Contact 5-10 of your friends via facebook, text or email asking if they
are properly registered at their current address. Use facebook and email to get
the www.voteforchange.com link out to as many of your friends as possible all
over the country.
- Request to make a classroom announcement about the registration deadline,
and/or write "Don't Absentee, Vote @ UNC -Voter Registration Deadline October
10" in the corner of your classroom whiteboards.
(4) Early Voting in NC begins in less than three weeks! That means we have less
than 20 days left to persuade undecided North Carolinians.
So... MARK YOUR CALENDARS:
- Tuesday, Sep 30: "Calling for Change Phonebank" (6-9pm, Union 3512E)
- Wed, Oct 1: "Canvass Student Apartments in Chapel Hill" (4-7PM, meet at Davis
ATMs) (RSVP by emailing [EMAIL PROTECTED])
- Thurs, Oct 2: "Calling for Change Phonebank" (6-9pm, Union 3512E)
- Fri, Oct 3: "Canvass in Chapel Hill" (4:45-7:30pm, meet at Davis ATM's) (RSVP
by emailing [EMAIL PROTECTED])
- Sat, Oct 4: "North Carolina Democratic Party's Annual Vance-Aycock Dinner" -
join the Young Dems on a trip to Asheville for the state party's annual dinner
and progressive bash! Lots of fun. Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you're interested
or have more questions.
- Sat, Oct 4: "Canvass in Chapel Hill" (Obama office, 237 Rosemary St)
(10am-1pm, 2-5pm) (RSVP by emailing [EMAIL PROTECTED])
Remember, Nov. 5th is too late! If you need some motivation, check out this
