For the past four years my wife and I have done what we call the 12
Days of Christmas. This year we have chosen to surprise a friend that
lives several hundred miles from us, near Reno. It works like this.
First, you need to choose the person you are going to surprise, someone
that needs to have the season made brighter due to circumstances in
their life that are not so wonderful.
In her case her husband is terminally ill. His medical expenses (Dr.
visits and medication) are not fully covered by his insurance, so money
is very tight. They are homebound because he gets too weak when they go
out.
So beginning the 10th of December we will start sending a daily card or
small gift to them. The whole idea here is to bring some Christmas
cheer to them WITHOUT them knowing exactly where it is coming from.
That is where you come in. I am planning on sending $5 in a card daily
as well as other surprises, like a fully cooked turkey from
www.gobblegobble.com, ("It's a turkey like none other. I've done it for
three years straight. I'm telling you, it's the best turkey I've ever
had!" Oprah).
What I need your help with, is sending cards from different locations
in the country (or out of the country, on a specific date). If you have
a paypal account I will be happy to send you the $7 for a card and the
$5 to be included in the card. I know some people don't like to send
cash and if it is more than $10, I don't send cash either. But I have
no problem with sending $5, in a card through the mail.
The main thing is that I remain unknown to my friend. She will find out
we were behind this after Christmas when we make a trip to visit them.
If you would just like to send a card that would be fine, too. Just a
way to spread the Christmas cheer. She is a religious person so she
would appreciate reglious cards, too.
If you are willing to help let me know ASAP so I can begin lining up
the help and sending out the money to your paypal account so you can
send it on.
Thanks,
Jeff
