Hello Jim, In my opinion the earlier you band the better for the animal. Can you stretch the band over the testicles of the ones that were born in May and June of last year? If so you might want to try it. Make sure you watch for infection. In my opinion the rule of thumb is the greater chance of infection the older the animal. I always like to band in the cold month especially for older animals.
I hope this helps and keep us informed of your decision and outcome. I have a 3 month old pai of rams. I will probably band these two. However I have 3 young rams which were born last May and last June. Only one of these three is the coloration I am trying to achieve. The other two I would like to whether. Is it too late to do this. Where can I obtain information on this.
