Thank you Rick, I do know and understand completely the difference between 
the BBB and the Barbado, and I am so glad to hear that one day they will 
hopefully each have their own registery.  But as I stated before in my 
origional message, to what standard is the Barbado Sheep judged in a breed 
class.  They definatly do not meet all the standards required by the BBB 
standards.  So when it comes to being shown by a 4-H child, as a breeder of 
the lamb, what is the standard used for this breed?  If there is none to 
date, then might all of us who own Barbado sheep now   (horned registered as 
BBB) get together and come up with a standard for our breed?  I am guessing 
that any judge of woolies here in our area don't have a clue to a standard 
either.  Suggestions will be most welcome.  I know you few are all 
overloaded with the BBSAI registery and working hard at changing that which 
needs to be changed.  I for one thank you.  Sue

Sue, thanks for bringing the issue to the list again. The more often it 
comes up, the better chance we will have of some day getting the two breeds 
more completely separate.  Barbados Blackbelly really do have NO HORNS 
regardless of their ability to be registered as Barbados Blackbelly.  That 
registration mix-up we have will eventually be fixed.  For the time being, 
think of your sheep as Barbado.  Chances are about 99.99% that you have no 
true Barbados Blackbelly.  The Barbado breed resulted from mixing the 
Barbados Blackbelly with a number of other breeds, resulting in all the 
possible colors for that breed.  So, stick to that Oklahoma site to get 
your standards. Barbado can be many different colors, but BB must have some 
shade of brown on top and black underneath and never any horns.

Subject: [blackbelly] Question about showing BB's and Barbado
I have Barbado sheep, registered Barbados Blackbelly sheep (horned)  I also
have none registered stock.  I have a young man in 4-H who wants to show 
one
of each....registered and unregistered.  I find no standards for the
Barbado...only the Barbados Blackbelly.  Yet when I look on the University
of Oklahoma page about Barbado there is a destinct difference in not only
name, but color, coat, and horned rams, polled ewes, etc.  So do Barbado
sheep get judged the same in comformation/breed even though they have 2
other breeds mixed with them? Not being purebred BBB, would they have to
hold to the same standard as if they were Barbados Blackbelly?  And one of
my ewe lambs has a white dot on the top of her head, she could never be
shown as a BBB, even if she was registered (which she is not), but how 
about
a Barbado?  She should be able to be shown as a Barbado sheep........see
what I mean here, just a little confusing.   Thanks Sue
