<< I am all for a
name change which seems to me will make things easier for new comers, and us
who have Barbado sheep now, should jump for joy that we have our own breed
and a name to go along with it. It is going to be much easier then
constantly trying to compare the two and getting people all confused. I
also think though, we as "Barbado/(American Blackbelly breeders) need to
put together someday a breed standard, only because with Rambouilette and
Mouflon in the background in the making of Barbado sheep(American
Blackbelly) the breed standard/physical standard is going to be different
then a purebred BBB. >>

I'm glad y'all liked the name. I think removing the barbado makes it less
confusing than constantly defining what a BBS is and isn't compared to the now
called Barbado(and other names). :-)

Personally, I like American Blackbelly Sheep and it would be easier to
explain to all the folks that keep asking about our sheep.

That's a great idea re: a separate breed standard.

Do the commercial growers vs. breeders have any strife on account of the
names? My 3 (ABS?) are commercial stock, not breed stock.
