Folks
I live in Texas.
I now have 16 "Texas" Barbados. The first 6 were trapped on land I hunt, in South Texas. All have come from those first 4 I acquired 2 years ago.
I have found they are wonderful. The market is not profitable at all. I have sold 4 this spring to folks for meat. I was told it was quite good.
I do not raise then for profit, but instead, for pleasure.
All of my rams, lambs and mature, have horns. Only one, born about a year ago has true Barbados markings. He will be my breeder in the future. I really do not see the need for all this hoopla about what is what. As long as we care for our flocks and keep then healthy.
Before I rapped the first 4, the hunters on my property in South Texas hunted them and were proud of the "horns". Since I have started raising them, I have stopped the hunters from harvesting them.
I hope all have a great week
