The rams horns are black one longer and further along then the other. Is
that normal? Will the color change?

Do the true-strain BBS all have roman noses? Why would the other blackbelly
group disqualify based on a roman nose? Anybody know? Yet short ears, no
ears are looked upon as good features??

My understanding is that the North American BBS (group) standard is the
"American" Blackbelly sheep or american strain version, polled or horned.....I
think.

BBSAI seems to be sticking closer to the true-strain standard/characteristics
in the american strain version, but calling the horned sheep- Barbado and the
polled Blackbelly Barbados . Am I close???? LOL

Why aren't true BBS being imported to the US, now?

sidenote:
I was outdoors with hubby discussing standards and markings and intensely
making note of our sheeps appearance. Ram-Ram has a classic Roman nose, well we
were talking and commenting and then started laughing about
something......when the ram raised his head to the sky curled up his lip and appeared
to have
joined us in laughter.....well, we were rolling then and he kept right on
grinning, too.

Still pondering just what "breed" of sheep my blackbellies really are...now,
I know our German Shepherd is just that, but if I bred him to another breed of
dog and then another......I wouldn't call the end result a German Shepherd or
Shepherd German. Even if many of the Shepherd characteristics were still
present. ;-) What a mess.

It sounds like a new name is needed if this is the development of a NEW
breed.....the american version of the original blackbelly. ie. American
Blackbelly Sheep

ie.
I have Welsh Harlequin ducks. Started in Wales from Khaki Campbells, in 1949
he had 2 light colored ducklings hatch out from a pure line of Khaki and
there it began-a new breed developed.

I have either Silver Appleyards or Saxony arriving in May both are listed on
the ALBC critical list, as well as WH. Saxony duck history began by mixing 3
duck breeds till the breeder created the standard he wanted..... a new breed
was created.

I still love our sheep, I think I'll just call them ABS. <BWG>
