I WISH TO RESPOND TO A COUPLE DIFFERENT THINGS TODAY:

FIRST, IT'S TIME I APOLOGIZED AND ATTEMPTED TO START OVER. MAY ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO WERE OFFENDED OR HURT BY WHAT I SAID TO THEM OR TO OTHERS DURING THE PAST FEW WEEKS, PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGIES. I AM SORRY.
As I said, Rick, please address all further communication either to me
privately or to one of the other BBSAI officers or directors. This listserv
is a forum for discussing Barbados Blackbelly and Barbado sheep and not for discussing the specific issues of either of the U.S. registries. Carol

I THINK THAT WE NEED TO GET RID OF THE SHEEP WHO REQUIRE PARASITE DRUGS. THIS LIST INVOLVES BLACKBELLIES--A PAIR OF BREEDS WHICH WE SHOULD ALL WISH TO KEEP PARASITE-DRUG FREE. SO, CULL THE BLACKBELLIES WHO CAN'T HANDLE PARASITES, OR RAISE WOOLIES. (PLEASE, NO ONE TAKE OFFENSE AT THAT!)
Sheep: Sheep are more susceptible to parasites than cattle. Adult sheep can become overwhelmed with parasites and die. Because of this, more dewormers have been used and parasite drug resistance has become a major problem in certain areas of the country.
5. Farm history of parasite problems.
Strategies that prevent or reduce the risk of parasite development:
>2. Use dewormer only on the most susceptible animals (such as using the FAMCHA program).
Summary: As you can see, implementing strategies that reduce parasite
resistant development can cost money and reduce efficiency, but so do
parasites. Parasites that are resistant to dewormers have driven producers out of business. Improper use of the ones we have available will seriously hinder the sheep and goat industry in the future.

ANYONE HAVE INFO HERE, FOR AS I SAID ABOVE, I WON'T USE DRUGS:
Does anyone have any knowledge about whether it is SAFE TO EAT a lamb with coccidiosis or with whatever is giving my non-barbado lamb the runs? I'm thinking that I have no use for sheep with a Dorper mix in their cross, and eating her would be the simplest solution.
