Guess this note from Rick proves to me that there is a definite need out there for a name change and a standard created for the non-existing" Barbado sheep," the "horned Barbados Blackbelly"...what ever they are being called. The ones who lose in this muddled mess is the sheep. Not only will the polled Barbados Blackbelly be lost if something isn't done to help their breeding programs, we that raise "Barbado" (Blackbelly's with horns)to a strict standard, our sheep are in danger of an identify crisis. Susan's letter about standards, below, prompts me to ask a question about Barbado/Barbados Blackbelly.
Several days ago a website was mentioned, "Maryland...", which took me to a Blackbelly page underwhich I found the "North American Barbados Blackbelly Sheep Registry." But the NABBSR pictures showed Barbado sheep, not Barbados Blackbelly sheep. When I wrote to them to ask about it, they told me there was really no such breed as "Barbado."
Boy, if that doesn't throw a wrench into the whole discussion we've had lately, I don't know what would. Are there any NABBSR people on this list?

I would like to, if I may, retract in part a statement I had made several
weeks ago about whether I thought horns should be allowed on ewes or not for
the "Barbado sheep," if there were to be a new standard written to fit the
Barbado. This is from "my" point of view only and I am only sharing my
thoughts, not trying to convince anyone or sway anyone to my way of
thinking. I studied all the "hair" sheep breeds Sue Smith
