I've explored the Nolana project a little more today.

"Schafe, die kein Wollvlies mehr aufweisen, drfen Nolana genannt werden. In
diesen Kreuzungsherden wird dann nach Zuchtziel selektiert und so entsteht im
Verlaufe der Jahre eine neue Rasse, eben das Nolana-Schaf."

I just finished reading the plan/definition of a Nolana-Sheep.
A NEW breed of hair sheep is the goal of Nolana utilizing various breeds of
current hair sheep to build the Nolana type hair sheep. One that will be
pasture raised and reach about 90 + lbs by 4 months of age. The primary interest
for now is in rams to change over the current woolie population to a hair type.
Sheep that no longer produce wool can be named Nolana. From these sheep
(crossbreds) selections will be made to further the goals of establishing a new
sheep.

>From my understanding, they want something like the Dorper, Katahdin breeds
with the goal of prolificacy, parasite resistant, climate hardy hair sheep
throughout Europe and rapid weight with excellent meat quality. And pasture
raised. Amongst a few other details. :-)

The BBS would be used for their genetic input, but aren't necessarily a
desired breed as is.

Carol is that your understanding?
