I've also have been very inlightened by the talk on foot rot. Living next to a creek and having nothing but bottom land, when there is a lot of rain our place really gets wet and muddy. I have had some of my sheep get impacted hooves from the mud, and it will cause them to limp. But upon seeing them limp (I always check on the sheep every morning when I get home, I get the limper up and clean the hooves out. They usually get better very fast, like the next morning. We have a man down the road about seven milesthat waters his sheep and goats from a pond, and I've noticed that a lot of his barbados are limping. But I would take everyone's advice as you have already said and not go back to your neigbors. Anyone that isn't anymore concerned about his heard than to have already have checked them out could have a lot more problems then he thinks!
Hope you find you a ram close by though.

I went to look at possibly buying a dorper/katahdin cross ram to use on
some of my ewes for freezer lambs. One thing I noticed was several of
his ewes(out of 100) were limping. I asked him about it and he said it
was due to all the rain. His land is fairly low-lying and we have had an
unusually large amount rain this year. He said they get sore hooves when
they don't have a chance to dry out.
Makes sense to me but I thought I had better ask the list.

Anyone have any experience with this? Is there a contagious disease I
need to be worried about? My land is "high-ground" hilly with bluffs and
I never have any problems with standing water and such, so if it isn't
contagious, it will probably clear up on my place. My sheep are very
healthy, no health problems at all. Obviously I don't want to introduce
anything bad for my sheep.
Do I need to take him by the vet on my way home and get him some shots
or something?

My BBs have spoiled me I guess and have no experience with this.

Thanks,
Chris
