I have had good luck with electric fence keeping sheep in a pasture, and keeping out predators with six steel wires on the fence. I have had success separating sheep with electric fence unless you are separating ram lambs from the ewes. The young rams will charge the fence to get back with the flock. Ewes are more agreeable to moving to a new area especially if the new area includes some sheep for company. Young rams will eventually get used to being in the new area and respect the electric fence.

The paddocks are fenced on one or two sides with correctly installed 1 1/2" wide white poly electric fencing. The charger delivers about 7,000 volts. The current sheep are familiar with electric web fencing but I'm looking forward to getting a few more soon. Can I run some additional wires, including ground wires, between the strips of white tape and expect it to hold the sheep?
