I wish I had this problem. I have almost the opposite ratio.
Every lambing season I have TOO many rams! :( (5 different sires over the
years)
Last spring: 38 lambs, 27 rams, 11 ewes.

Subject: [blackbelly] Question About Gender of Lambs
Hello List,
I have just finished my fall lambing season of 2004. The results for the
spring and fall lambing seasons were as follows:
Spring 2004: 11 total lambs born. 9 girls and 2 boys. (birth dates
between 11/27/03 and 2/25/04). All from 6 ewes and all sired by Teddy.
Fall 2004: 9 total lambs born. 8 girls and 1 boy. (birth dates between
8/4/04 and 11/2/04). All from the same 6 ewes and 50% sired by Teddy, the
other 50% sired by Ulysses.
OK, here is my question: Why am I getting so many ewe lambs and so few ram
lambs? Anyone have theories/scientific information? Anything I can do
nutritionally/environmentally to "even-up" my production of ewe lambs and
ram lambs? I'd sure like to see more of a 50/50 ratio.
Sincerely,
Mary Swindell
