Carol, Yes thanks for sharing that. I was curious to see what could be done. 2 weeks ago I went into the barn in the morning just about 20 minutes after Ted had fed them to find a 4 week old ram lamb with a foot caught in the bunk. I went over and lifted him up, pulled him forward to get his foot out, and preceded to let go of him waiting for his mad dash at the door to get away from me - but he just laid down in the bunk. So I picked him up only to discover that he had broken his leg just above the hoof. Ted and I placed a rag around his leg firmly but not enought to cut off the circulation and wrapped it with clear packing tape ( cause that's all I could find at the time)!!!! We just took it off a day ago and it seems to have healed and he is putting some weight on it. Ted said he would have used Duct tape also ( If I could have found it) but he said that you place it so the sticky side is turned away from the hair on their legs at the top and bottom. Luckily the clear packing tape worked out allright. We are monitoring the little stinker as he lost some weight at 1st but is now starting to gain it back.
Hope all goes well with your ewe and that you have healthy lambs when they finally arrive - keep us posted as to her progress. Sue
