For my first bottle lamb, I purchased Merricks from Premier or Pipestone (can't remember which) because the ad said it was the easiest to dissolve. It worked fine.

For the last bummer, I purchased whatever brand was available at Big R (the local farm store). It was fine, too.

In between, I had to purchase a very expensive tub of some brand from my local vet. It was fine as well.

What I learned from all of these is that 1) I'd rather not pay shipping for something that I can get locally; 2) no matter what size bag you buy, you will run out before the lamb is finished; 3) the leftover powder will not keep well for the year or two until the next bummer lamb; and 4) all brands require a little extra work to get them to dissolve. Here is what worked for me:

1. Measure out 1/2 c of powered replacer and add it to 1 cup REALLY hot water.
2. Shake that up really well until it is fully dissolved.
3. Then add 1 cup cold water. The result will be formula at body temperature.

Verify that the amounts I give here are equivalent to the requirements of whatever brand you purchase.
