Thanks for the info Carol. My county rep. has some very unusual ideas of how a sheep operation should be run. I'll not go into it here, but if I listened to all he told me I would never have gotten into sheep. But as you know I forged ahead without his blessings or help. The USDA was even less helpful when I requested a loan to help get my sheep operation up and running correctly. Well, I am up and running and did pretty good last spring, and all ram lambs are sold already for 2005 lambing season. So when the government says they are going to pay me for retaining ewes and for the purchase of ewe lambs within a certain time period, I don't think I will hold my breath.
