--__--__--> Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone has any information about toxcidia? Symptons,
treatment, etc? Just wondering???

Stephanie

Stephanie,
Could you possibly mean coccidia? You will likely see diarrhea with coccidia, and it can be quickly fatal to lambs. In light of a current problem I am having with gastrointestinal problems with one of my animals, I would urge you to not make guesses - take a fecal sample to your vet. It's only going to cost about $15 and they will advise you what to treat with. Cocci gets into the cells of the gut lining, where it basically "multiplies" until the cells explode. The damage to the gut can be devastating. My personal, humble opinion is, if you are seeing an episode of diarrhea or other intestinal upset, don't guess. Get an accurate diagnosis and get on it before the animal becomes debilitated. BTW, cocci is most definitely contagious.

Barb Lee
