Summary: Firefox loses keyboard input
Initial Comment:
Using the 0.8 release or any of the nightly builds,
Firefox loses keyboard input until refocused. This
only happens when using Blackbox CVS and is becoming
increasingly annoying. It used to be only necessary to
refocus each new Firefox window once. However recently
it's started happening multiple times.
In fact to file this report I had to refocus 4 times to
enter the URL.

This problem is now fixed for me too - don't know why it
wasn't ok on the 15th.
Thanks!

I installed firefox-0.9-i686-linux-gtk2+xft.tar.gz, as has
been said it only occurs when firefox attempts to pop up a
window of previously entered suggestions

how is firefox built? are you using gtk 1 or gtk 2? using gtk 2, i cannot
reproduce this at all, the only thing i can manage is opening the url
drop-down, moving the mouse over another window and hitting escape...
then focus will move to the window under the mouse (when using sloppy
focus).

This bug seems to have disappeared with the latest Blackbox
CVS and Mozilla Firefox v0.8.

I cannot reproduce this. As was asked, here is some version
information regarding my setup:
Firefox (according to help->about) version: 0.8.0+
Blackbox CVS (updated yesterday, Jun-15-2004)
XFree86 Version 4.4.0
Release Date: 29 February 2004
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.6
Build Operating System: Linux 2.4.22 i686 [ELF]
Current Operating System: Linux 000c6e9588c5 2.4.22 #2 Fri
Jan 30 21:39:20 MST 2004 i686
Build Date: 17 March 2004
Changelog Date: 29 February 2004
Before reporting problems, check http://www.XFree86.Org/
to make sure that you have the latest version.
Module Loader present
GCC (since firefox was compiled, binaries wouldn't run): gcc
(GCC) 3.3
I compiled firefox following these instructions:
http://silverwraith.com/papers/build-firefox.php
Firefox seems to have quite a few problems. Not sure if
this is because I compiled it or if they are problems with
firefox. Assuming it has something to do w/ my compiling it
(possibly incorrectly), that may be why I cannot reproduce this.

It seems to be a problem with the pull-down history menu
that pops up beneath the address bar. This is the menu that
pops up, containing the URL's of past, visited addresses,
which match whatever address has been typed in the address
bar so far.
This problem appears for both click-to-focus and
sloppy-focus models.
As a temporary fix, you can turn off address history. ie.,
Go to: Tools | Options | Privacy | History | Remember
visited pages for the last 0 days.
