If it was a binary package, you'll probably have to compile from source.
I've never used a bb* binary package, so I can't be sure about this.

To get bbconf to save it's settings, create the directory .bbtools under
your $HOME directory. Then bbconf will save it's settings in
~/.bbtools/bbconf.bb
