blackbox 0.65.a7 hangs

Blackbox 0.65.a7 hangs and returns to the console when I use kppp: when the 
program connects and auto minimizes, blackbox exits (kppp still running). 
Otherwise a great window manager. Can anyone point out a solution or a 
substitution for kppp? I need something that accepts dynamic DNS names. Gnome 
ppp wasn't very good at it, and I coouldn't compile bbppp.
