Done. Here's the poop: - With xfwm (part of Xfce), JBuilder works perfectly well-- i.e. dialogs are the right size/location - With blackbox, dialogs are way too big or too small For extra fun, I did this: 1) Started up JBuilder with blackbox as my wm 2) Confirmed dialogs as being wrongly-sized 3) Switched to xfwm while JBuilder was still running 4) Tested dialogs, and they are now wrongly-sized even though xfwm was now the wm 5) Quit then restarted JBuilder with xfwm still as my wm 6) Tested dialogs, all is well So.... it may be that when JBuilder/JVM is first started up, it gets some sort of semi-bogus hint or something from blackbox that confuses it until it is restarted. -Roy
