Rob, pulling/ranking 'Open' all the way to the top did the trick,
thanks.
I had considered this, but thought that the action 'Run' was - or seemed
to be - specific to applications and so I expected would rank higher
than 'Append To...' when an application was in the first pane, but I
guess not. In any case, 'Open' works.
