Most directories are rescanned on a schedule (every 10 minutes by
default). There are a couple of exceptions that get rescanned in
real-time like your home directory and Documents folder.
I don’t think its plausible to enable the real-time rescan on
everything without bogging down your system. At least not with the
current technique.
(It’s possible to enable the real-time rescan on any folder in your
catalog, if you want to dig a little. I don’t recommend it.)
