Yes, I knew exactly what you were asking.
The two methods listed won't work to set the default search engine
because they require you _type something_ when what I am trying to
re-rank is the search engine Find With... picks _without typing
anything_ in the third pane, ie the default pick.
Yep. I know. You have to type something when you use “Find With…”.
Neither of my suggestions involved using that action though.
I wasn’t suggesting that you use “Google ⇥ Search For…” every
time from now on. Just do it a few times with meaningless searches to
goose the rankings for that search engine. Then it will eventually
become the default for “Find With…” in the third pane. I promise.
I made [that change][1] to the plug-in myself.
Or if you don’t want to do that over and over, not having any idea how
many times it will take, you can manually change the number of times a
particular search URL has been used in `Mnemonics.plist` under
`implied`. The one with the biggest total should get listed first.
