The position is for a hands-on release manager managing a medium size team(s). This is a technical role and not a project management role. We expect candidates applying for this role to have deep development experience especially as Tech leads to understand the release criteria, monitor application development progress against the criteria and be confident to push back with solid reasoning if the criteria is not met prior to releasing to a higher level environment than development. Candidate will be expected to define, create, refine change/release procedures for the space and deploy application code to production. Keys to success are automation of release deployments, implementing control checks, coordination between squads, reporting & status updates, flawless execution of process/procedures/releases and production guardianship. The person will work closely with the squads, support team and other technology partners (DBAs, SAs, etc). Release Manager should be able to create and maintain relationships with the teams outside the team to help navigate complex dependencies, exert indirect influence to getting things done and ensure the integrity of the release. The RMs will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for deploying code in user acceptance & production environments. The Release Manager should be highly supportive of members of the Squads as they go through their software delivery process. RMs should be articulate confidently about the release artifacts independently without help from squad members. · Manages the release process end-to-end, from the planning of release content through to actual release deployment to production. Plans the deployment of software releases of products and the in-house applications. · Maintains the current change management process for documenting software release while actively championing and evolving the process to support release management. · Writes and maintains written procedures for release management. Configures and implements automated tools and/or manual processes that integrate the Release Management function with other ITIL processes, working individually or as part of a team. · RM works closely with squads to understand the stories technically and gauge release readiness. · RM will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for production environments. · RM publishes and Maintains the 2-week Release Calendar along with Release Slots and available Environments across all Squads · RM handles High level checkpoint to do consolidated review of Release Requests from all Squads and Finalize Release Scope · Creates & Maintains Release Dashboards · Publish Upcoming Release Page and maintain page consistently · Manage Release Management JIRA Tickets for FotF Release Task Tracking · Define the Release Criteria. RM responsible to ensure that the criteria is met · Negotiates, plans and manages all release activities. Performs coordination leading up to the release · Publishes pre and post release communications · Maintains Release Notification lists · Manages risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality · Works closely with DevOps engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges · Works with FotF Pipeline team to automate release processes · Researches new release and configuration management methodologies and technologies · Continually works towards making improvements to the release process · Create Consolidated production change requests. RM will be change co-ordinator for the Consolidated change requests *Requirements:* • 7-10 years in release management acting as a lead or manager in an operations centric environment. Preferably in an organization developing enterprise applications. • Expert in JIRA tracking systems for administration. Expert in JIRA<> Confluence integration • Experience with Plutora for Release visibility and reporting • Hands on knowledge of scripting (UNIX Shell, Perl, Python, Windows Batch files and PowerShell) • Knowledge of web applications deployment • 2-5 years of software development experience • Knowledge of SCM and continuous integration systems (Jenkins, Cruise Control, Team city) • Knowledge of Configuration Management industry standards and best practices • Knowledge of Agile Iterative Development best practices and software development lifecycles.
