Thanks for the info. I've been using setxkbmap in .xinitrc (so, on a per-
user basis).

To pass Control-C to the server, I assume you have to be in the login
xterm ? Similarly, Control-Alt-F1 will need to be followed by Control-C
to kill the server ?
I think the version currently in the book is supposed to still accept
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, this is only for newer releases in the 1.7 series or
later.
