 I didn't mean to throw out a red herring.  Setting up a system to mount a
 cifs partition as /usr seems to be a pretty dumb thing to do.  On the
 other hand, setting up a central nfs partition for multiple systems to use
 for /usr seems like a reasonable thing to do to make updates on that
 central system easier and more secure.

 As long as /usr is available, it doesn't make much difference whether cifs
 support is in /sbin or /usr/sbin.
