Would it make sence to put back the contents of .xinitrc:
echo exec xfce4-session > ~/.xinitrc
with dbus
echo "exec dbus-launch --exit-with-session xfce4-session" > ~/.xinitrc
with Consolekit
echo "exec dbus-launch startxfce4 --with-ck-launch" > ~/.xinitrc
(if I'm right...)
