As Xi mentioned in Ticket #14176, there is a problem with gnome-session
delaying shutdowns for multiple minutes at a time. The fix is:

session/-/merge_requests/55
We can just add
echo 'Slice=-.slice' >> data/gnome-session-restart-dbus.service.in
installing gnome-session.
