I was just trying to set up mutt to use imap and realized that I didn't have imap support (I used the instructions from blfs svn). Of course I just needed to add --enable-imap to the ./configure command. It might be helpful to add something about that to the mutt instructions. I'm mentioning this only because I noticed other packages have some options listed that would be needed to take advantage of optional dependencies, and although this isn't exactly the same, it's similar.
