The implication in the dependency sections is that the packages have to be built prior to building the current package. In other words the dependencies are build dependencies, not run dependencies. How independent packages are used in combination are generally beyond the scope of the book. In some selected cases, we describe how to use a package in combination with others. In that case, the appropriate place to mention those packages is in the configuration section, not the dependencies section. ---------- I do have a bit of a problem with critics (in the constructive sense) of the wording of the book who point out problems, but do not provide suggested corrective wording. Alexander, we all appreciate your insight, especially with regard to i18n issues, however asking the editors to guess what wording you prefer is not very productive.
