Make the change if you wish, just ensure you provide the details as to what exactly is required if you don't have bdb. These versions (at least the 2.2.x series) will become the next stable version after testing is complete. Stable Release is the release recommended for use in a production environment as this version has been tested and is the "stable" version. The Testing versions are just as you describe, unstable, as shown on the download page at: http://www.openldap.org/software/download/ I'm not sure what there is to me confused about, they list a stable version.
