I would like to propose replacing fam in the BLFS book by gamin. See this thread <http://archives.linuxfromscratch.org/mail-archives/blfs-dev/2005-September/011391.html>.
Basically the advantages over fam are: * Does not need a daemon to be run as root. * Has support for inotify. * Is better maintained than fam(?)
