Yes, and of course, I can load it at boot time. My concern is that the book gives no guidance on loading alsa modules. The bootscript is solely about storing volumes. My personal view is that taking the pages on alsa-driver out was retrograde. The version in the kernel is usually well behind the latest available - yet we have no advice on how to upgrade (the driver).
