Hi all, As much as I would have liked to see the 1.2.x series of cairo in the book, I don't think it is ready yet. The 1.2.x series of cairo provides many new features and back-ends.
Even though Paldo has 1.2.0 in 'stable', I don't feel comfortable using it yet. Version 1.2.2 is due out in the next day or so (providing Carl feels comfortable with the patch to fix the BGR X issues). I'll perform another round of testing when 1.2.2 is released. See https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7294 for the current show-stopper. Though there is a patch that apparently fixes the BGR X issue, I'm still seeing assertion failures. I made an entry in the bug (comment #58) which describes the issues I'm seeing. I have done significant testing and cairo, using certain X servers, will result in assertion failures running many applications, including Firefox. Backing down to cairo-1.0.4 results in no problems. What is interesting is that when I use cairo-1.2.0 and run firefox straight from KDE or GNOME built on a current LFS platform (from the console), I see no problems. So the issue is indeed only reproduceable using certain X servers. -- Randy rmlscsi: [bogomips 1003.27] [GNU ld version 2.16.1] [gcc (GCC) 4.0.3] [GNU C Library stable release version 2.3.6] [Linux 2.6.14.3 i686] 13:18:01 up 3 days, 14:46, 1 user, load average: 0.01, 0.04, 0.00 -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
