No need to touch the headers. There is a patch [1] (it was submitted the mid October,pulled from fedora) for reiserfsprogs. Alexander,there is a small patch [2] for vim,that supports multi-byte characters in langmap option (very useful at least for me or for people in multi language environment). Could you test it and maybe apply it as optional in the Book.
