I downloaded kdebase and looked, and it does want hal, dbus and dbus-qt3 to build the hal backend for kioslave. > Not sure how that applies now to the newer D-Bus/HAL. It's kioslave that uses dbus-qt3 to talk to hal over dbus. Interestingly, Fedora takes the old dbus-qt3 code and patches it onto kdebase.
