At the time I was in a hurry and so I wasn't fussy about which packages were being installed, so I just installed the entire lot. For some reason xdriinfo didn't stick in my mind - but being able to disable Mesa did - and usually when something is recommended there is a way to disable it. I now realise my mistake, of course, but I feel it should serve as a warning to others. I also realise that the fact you can choose to not use Mesa means that the package is, by definition, not required. However, I feel that the way it is laid out in the book makes it required in this particular instance. If I decide to not use a recommended package I don't expect it to complain about it. If the warning were to go anywhere I think the page notes would probably be the ideal place - that's where the information to disable Mesa in the server resides as well. -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
