I've recently compiled glib-2.21.2 and the testsuite seemed to finish without
much of a problem. The only problem I encountered is that the testsuite now
requires desktop-file-utils to be installed (as opposed to 2.18.*), otherwise
you'll encounter an error. desktop-file-utils requires glib and so you have
to compile glib, install it, compile and install desktop-file-utils, and
_then_ run the glib testsuite.
The latest stable appears to be 2.20.2 and I wondered if perhaps we should
upgrade the book to it, the slight issue of the testsuite aside I can't see
much wrong with it.
